Różem migocze mokradło | The Wetland Glimmers in Pink(2024)
gallery Marszałkowska 18, Warsaw 13.06—20.06.2024
The artworks presented in the exhibition are visual notes from the artist's encounter with the Cross-leaved Heath, a plant under strict species protection in Poland and at risk of extinction. It is a story about a fragment of observed plant life and its gradual, imperceptible disappearance.
The light pink color of the plant's flowers, changing to brown as they wither, symbolizes passing and rebirth, reflecting the transience and fragility of existence. Inside the dried perianth, fruits develop, containing seeds that will soon scatter and spread on the moist and boggy soils of the wetlands. It is in these seeds that hope for new life lies, and thus the further survival of the Cross-leaved Heath.
The aim of these artworks is not only to marvel at the plant's beauty but also to sensitize viewers to the disappearance of species and emphasize the importance of protecting natural ecosystems. The artist draws attention to the necessity of preserving biodiversity and encourages greater care in interspecies relationships. The exhibition prompts reflection on the role of humans in nature conservation, as well as a deeper understanding and appreciation of the plant beings that surround us.
